The deal, in plain English.
What you can expect from us, and what we need from you, on every quote and every job. Last updated October 2026.
Who you're dealing with
Edinburgh Clearance Crew Ltd, a company registered in Scotland (company number SC897848), registered office 4 Flat 1 Gilmours Entry, Edinburgh EH8 9XL. We are a SEPA registered waste carrier (EAS/R/6101799) and fully insured. Contact us on 0131 560 2692 or info@edinburghclearancecrew.co.uk.
Your quote
- We price from your photos, a video, a description or a free survey. The price we quote is the price you pay, with nothing added on top.
- Quotes are held for 30 days.
- The price is based on what you showed or told us. If there's a lot more on the day than we were shown, we'll tell you the price for the extra before we take it, and you decide. If there's less, you pay less.
- Van loads are charged by the space actually filled, judged by the crew on site. Loads over the weight allowance are £192 a tonne for the excess.
- The only things that cost more are listed on our prices page: floors above the second with no lift, carrying more than 25 m from where we can park, a two-hour arrival window, and work before 7am or after 6pm. Where they apply, they're in your quote from the start.
Booking and changing your date
We agree a day and an arrival window when you book. If you need to cancel or move your date, let us know as early as you can and we'll rebook you. If we're running late or have to move your job, we'll tell you as soon as we know.
What we need from you
- You have the right to get rid of it. By booking, you confirm the items are yours to dispose of, or that you have the authority to clear them (for example as executor, landlord or agent). On probate and tenancy clearances we may ask you to confirm this in writing.
- Access on the day. Please make sure we can get in, and tell us about anything that affects access, such as parking restrictions, permits, stairs or a key collection.
- Check before we go. Take out anything you want to keep, and check drawers, pockets, boxes and cupboards for money, documents and keepsakes. Point at anything you want left and it stays, at no cost.
- Tell us about anything hazardous. If you're not sure what something is, send us a photo.
What we can't take
Asbestos, liquids and open paint, clinical waste, and gas or fuel containers. If we find any of these on the day, we'll leave them and tell you.
What happens to your things
- Once items are loaded, they become ours to reuse, donate, recycle or dispose of legally. Anything in good condition is offered to local charities and reuse projects first.
- We don't buy items or offset them against the price. If we spot something we think is worth money, we'll tell you to get it looked at before we take it.
- You get a waste transfer note for every job.
Payment
Payment is due when the job is finished, unless we've agreed otherwise in writing. Trade accounts are invoiced monthly on 30-day terms. We're not VAT registered, so there's no VAT on our prices.
If something goes wrong
- We take care in your property and we're fully insured. If we damage something, tell us as soon as you can, ideally while we're still there, and we'll put it right.
- We're not responsible for items left inside furniture or boxes we were asked to take, or for wear and tear that was already there.
- If you're not happy with any part of the job, call or email us and one of us will deal with it directly.
